Large Sloop Weathervane, as pictured, is a single-masted, fore-and-aft-rigged sailing boat with a short standing bowsprit or none at all and a single headsail set from the forestay They are amongst the more popular designs of the modern sail boats.
The height of the Large Sloop Weathervane. From top of mast to the bottom of the keel is 76cm and the length of the sloop is 80cm. The width across the deck is 13cm. The directionals which indicate the North, South, East and West compass points are cast in brass enabling them to withstand the elements of nature.
The copper balls represent glass lightning balls. In olden days the glass lightning balls would shatter if the weathervane was attacked by lightning. This would alert the building owner to check the building out for any lightning or storm damage.
The construction is rugged and true in every detail. The excellent workmanship make the Large Sloop Weathervane both functional and attractive.
The Large Sloop Weathervane illustrated below is three dimensional being 13cm wide. Two polished copper globes 5.5cm and 10cm in diameter add elegance to the presentation. The cast brass directionals are 44cm long. The combination of Brass and copper components results in a very handsome, balanced and functional weathervane.
There is a strong attaching bracket available. Made up of three aluminium castings. It comes complete with grub screws and attaching screws. The bracket is available for $55.00. There is no additional postage if ordered with the weathervane.
