The Large Sloop Weathervane, as depicted, is a single-masted, fore-and-aft-rigged sailing boat with a short standing bowsprit or none at all and a single headsail set from the forestay They are amongst the more popular designs of the modern sail boats.
Measurements. The height from top of mast to the bottom of the keel is 71cm. The length of the sloop is 67cm. The width across the deck is 12cm. The directionals which signify the compass points are cast in brass. The copper balls represent glass lightning balls. In days gone by the glass lightning balls would shatter if the weathervane was attacked by lightning and the building owner would be alerted to check the building out for any damage.
The balanced proportions and polished finish make this large sloop weathervane very attractive.
Large Sloop Weathervane. The figure is three dimensional being 10cm thick. The two copper globes are 5.5cm and 10cm in diameter. The cast brass directionals are 44cm. The result is a very handsome and balanced weathervane.
There is an attaching bracket available. Made of three aluminium castings. It comes complete with grub screws and attaching screws. The bracket is available for $55.00. There is no additional postage if ordered with the weathervane.
