Description
Gable Bracket and Extended Shaft
The Gable Bracket consists of a 316 Stainless Steel Plate formed and shaped to hold the weathervane shaft upright against the vertical face of the Roof Gable and is suitable for both metal or tile roofs.
The bracket will clear the rolled edge of a colour bond roof.
The bracket will clear the overhang of a tiled roof.
There are four holes for screws, bolts or rivets to hold the bracket firmly against the face of the gable.
This makes installing the weathervane easy and simple (simply easy).
The shaft of the weathervane comes down the face of the gable.
Therefore, the shaft needs to be longer than the shaft used on top of the ridge line.
Consequently, the Gable Bracket Extended Shaft is 200mm longer than the ridge bracket shaft.
Installing the Gable Bracket and Extended Shaft.
The Gable bracket you should be attached the top left hand hole with just one screw, bolt or rivet.
This enables you to adjust the bracket and shaft making it is vertically plumb and true.
If you pre drill all the holes in one go they may not be quite correct.
Holding the bracket is held against the gable, make sure that the shaft is vertically upright.
This will enable the weathervane to function correctly.
Weathervanes have two functions.
1. The purpose of a weathervane is to indicate the direction that the wind is coming from.
It does this by facing into the wind. A properly balanced and designed weathervane will always face into the oncoming wind.
Therefore, the bulk of the weathervane’s surface area is behind the pivot point.
As the oncoming wind hits each side of the weathervane it keeps it facing into the wind.
2. The second purpose is to provide
- adornment,
- interest,
- character
- and beauty to spires, the roofs of buildings and towers, posts, walls and gardens.
