Wombat Weathervane depicts this interesting marsupial. Wombats are only found in Australia and is one of the largest burrowing mammals in the world. Wombat are big bodied with short muscular legs and sharp claws. They are perfectly designed digging machines. In the wild they live for 15 to 20 years. There is one in captivity at Ballarat that has survived for 29years.
Wombats are susceptible to heat stress. This is why they dig themselves humid burrows that are cool to rest in. Wombats develop complex tunnel systems with many exits and entrances. This creates a flow of fresh air into their cavernous excavations. They prefer to be left alone and are known to sleep for up to 16 hours a day. Their waking hours are spent digging and feeding.
The Wombat Figure stands on a 700mm long arrow. It measures 190mm high and 325mm long. The length of the directionals is 590mm. The total height of the weathervane is 490mm.

The wombat figure and arrow revolve effortlessly on a ball bearing. over a stainless Steel Shaft. The Wombat Weathervane is powder-coated. The powder coating ensures a perfect silhouette of the wombat.
A Stainless Steel Ridge Plate is available for fixing to the ridge line of a metal roof or a wooden garden post. Alternatively there is a Stainless Steel gable bracket available (see Fixing Brackets).

Stainless Steel Ridge Plate is flat. There are bending slots cut into the plate. These slots allow the ridge mounting plate to take up the pitch of the roof. The stainless steel ridge plate is also a suitable attachment for fixing the weathervane to flat surfaces and vertical posts.
