This Large Rooster Weathervane Antiqued is very attractive, beautifully proportioned and real in appearance. This design has remained unchanged since the last Century and is the most popular weathervane ever produced. the ample measurements ensure that It will be noticed being 535mm high and 635mm from chest to tail tip. the cast brass directionals are 460mm across. The total height including the 20mm solid steel shaft is 1275mm. That is a lot of Rooster!!! One of the early Popes decreed that the Rooster weathervane should be place atop of the church steeple to remind the flock that Peter denied Christ thrice (as Jesus said he would) before the cock crowed.

We finally got the rooster up yesterday and looks great.
We mounted it through a galvanized steel cap at the top of a 6m (48mm od) galvanized pole with two brackets like the ones used to mount a jockey wheel on a caravan, to the wall and a base support flange. On the end of the rooster shaft was welded two heavy duty washers. One at the end of the shaft and the other about 8 inches higher. These were ground on the external circumference to fit the ID of the pipe and secured by a galvanized screw to prevent it from turning. Then attached a stainless pulley and bracket, some rope and a flag, a rope securing windup lug and that was it.
What an expensive exercise. Steel is so dear but it looks great.
