The Dial Plate of an Equatorial Sundial is Parrarell to the plane of the Eath's Equator. As the Sun appears to move through 360 degrees in 24 hours, the hour divisions are uniformly spaced at 15 degree intervals. It is adjusted by tilting the dial plate to the appropriate angle so that the gnomon points towards the celestial pole.

Hi Bob
As promised, here are some of the photos of our new front garden and of course the sundial which we bought from you in June.  It has created much interest and Arthur enjoys going out and checking the time.  We had a very old fashioned cottage garden prior to the 'makeover' and a large front lawn which took a lot of water plus an iron fence and hedges.  Thankgoodness now for synthetic grass and raised garden beds. We have had a lot of pleasure creating our new garden and all the plants and shrubs are growing well with minimum water useage now.
We were delighted to win 2nd prize in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder waterwise garden competition last week. And today I have had the local paper take photos and do an interview for an article entitiled "My Garden" , so if they mention the sundial I will send you a copy.

Water Pump No. 1. Farmers Friend This is a reproduction of an early cast iron water pump used in the early days of this country.Unusually stylish for it's time. Itis almost graceful in appearance but do not be deceived . this pump really works. It is suitable for bench top situations or for use above a trough or barrell This water pump is ready to go to work. It has the standard 1 inch water pipe thread, so connection is really easy. Just a short pipe extension into awater supply (reservoir) and you can pump away to your hearts content. The overall Height off the pump is 19 inches (49 cm) with the handle in a vertical position (as Pictured). Australia Post does all it can to make sure that your mail is delivered safely to your Letter Box. From that point it is up to you to ensure that your Letter Box can keep it safe until you collect it.
These days with ìidentity theftî on the rise, it is very important to protect your personal details, particularly incoming mail. Glenview Products strongly recommend that you protect your personal details and this includes the contents of your Letter Box.

There are many ways you can do this, here are four important ones :

• By installing the right sized Letter Box for the volume of mail that you receive.
• Another way of securing your mail is by fitting a lock to your Letter Box to deter theives.
• You can arrange for some one you trust to collect and clear your mail when you are away.
• Alternatively you could make use of the Australia Post Holding Service.

The Perfect Letter Box

Make sure that your letter Box is large enough for the mail you regularly receive. A good guide is to ensure that an A4 Envelope is able to lie flat inside the Letter Box.

It is necessary to ensure that all of your mail is able to be contained within the Letter Box with no parts protruding. This reduces the risk of passers by being tempted to ìinvestigateî your mail, for what ever reason.

It is important to make sure that there are no jaggered or sharp edges on or about your Letter Box (be kind to your Postie).

Australia Post suggests that the best sized Letter Boxes are those with the following minimum dimensions.

230mm wide (left to right)

330mm deep (front to back)

160mm high (from top to bottom)

The slot for receiving your mail should be the full width of your Letter Box, but not large enough for someone to fit their hand through.

The elevation (height) of the Letter Box Slot should be between 900 mm and1200 mm above the ground

By sticking closely to these measurements and installing a Letter Box with a lock, you will have done all that you can do to ensure that your mail will fit easily and stay safely within your letter Box until you collect it.

Where to Place yourLetter Box

It is important to make sure that your Letter Box has easy access for the Postie to deliver your mail.
This means your Letter Box should be clearly in view and Positioned on the boundary of your property, on the fence next to your driveway, or in a similar position with the number of your property clearly displayed.
Please remember that your Letter Box should be positioned in a spot that is clear of obstacles like trees, shrubs and rocks.

Dolphin Polished  27.5"Lx16"H

These lovely creatures are known as Dolphins or Porpoises. They belong to the family Delphindae, especially Delphinus delphis, which has a long, sharp nose and abounds in the Mediterranean and the temperate Atlantic. They are truly friendly and exciting and are wonderful to watch as they bob and dive and race along side and ahead of boats and pleasure craft. They are friendly and appealing from any viewpoint. They bring much pleasure to many people.

Alpaca weathervane. beautiful silouette of this friendly placid animal. Not only do they provide high grade fleece but the alpaca mounted atop of this weathervane, will faithfully face into the on coming wind, day after day, after day and, establish, exactly where the wind is coming from.

The length of the arrow is 670mm long and the measurements of the Alpaca mounted on the arrow are 270mm high and 250mm from front to back. The arms of the directionals are 590mm long.

This Bracket is made from Stainless Steel and has had bending ribs cut in the appropriate places to enable the bracket to be formed to the pitch of the roof.  Bending is simply a matter of bending the stainless steel plate over the sharp edge of a bench or table. 

Once that is done  the shaft of the weathervane is bolted to the bracket (bolt is supplied). Then the Bracket can be screwed or pop rivetted (your choice) straight onto the metal roof.

When attaching the shaft to the bracket make sure that the North directional is pointing North and really tighten firmly.

The next step is to lower the arrow and figure assembly over the stainless steel shaft and the job is completed.

This bracket has been designed to affix to the Gable Facia Boards.

It allows the weathervane shaft to clear the rolled edge of a metal roof or the small overhang of a tiled roof. Attachment is by 4 screws or if a metal facia, use large pop rivetts.

The next step is to locate the steel shaft through the top of the bracket and bolt the shaft into position (bolt provided) making sure that the North Directional is facing North.

Make sure that the bolt is tightened securely.

We finally got the rooster up yesterday and looks great.

We mounted it through a galvanized steel cap at the top of a 6m (48mm od) galvanized pole with two brackets like the ones used to mount a jockey wheel on a caravan, to the wall and a base support flange. On the end of the rooster shaft was welded two heavy duty washers. One at the end of the shaft and the other about 8 inches higher. These were ground on the external circumference to fit the ID of the pipe and secured by a galvanized screw to prevent it from turning. Then attached a stainless pulley and bracket, some rope and a flag, a rope securing windup lug and that was it.

What an expensive exercise. Steel is so dear but it looks great.
